Emirates Team New Zealand won act six of the Extreme Sailing Series in Istanbul on Sunday (14th September).

    Script:

In near perfect conditions for racing, the sixth round of the Extreme Sailing Series provided a nail biting finish.

With the lead changing hands in almost every race, Alinghi could have taken victory going into the final action of the day.

But with their focus was on the overall title - and thus keeping The Wave, Muscat behind them Alinghi forgot about the Kiwis.

However, their strategy failed - as Leigh McMillan guided The Wave, Muscat into second place.

Despite missing out on top prize in Istanbul, McMillan and the team on The Wave, Muscat did what they came here to do: beat Alinghi and narrow the gap on the 2014 rankings

Victory though went to Dean Barker's Emirates Team New Zealand, their firsto of season and the first time a team other than Alinghi or The Wave, Muscat have won since 2012.

Alinghi hang onto the overall lead with 55 points but their advantage over The Wave, Muscat has been narrowed to just one point.

The penultimate Act seven takes place in Nice, France from the 2nd-5th October.
