    Script:

Switzerland took on Italy in the all-important Davis Cup men's doubles semi-final on Saturday.

Roger Federer was rested for the tie - the Swiss deciding to pair Stan Wawrinka with Marco Chiudinelli instead to face Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli.

The Swiss duo seemed in control of the match from the outset.

But the Italians were always within touching distance.

The crucial point came in the fourth set when Bolelli's volley broke Chiudinelli's serve and Swiss' hearts.

The Italians held on in the 5th and sealed the win in emphatic style.

The result cuts Switzerland's lead to 2-1, keeping the Italians dreams of reaching the final alive ahead of the reverse singles on Sunday.
