Italy's Antonio Cairoli notched up his eighth Motocross Grand Prix World Championship title on Sunday.

Racing at the Goias Grand Prix in Brazil, Cairoli capped a magnificent season for Red Bull KTM by winning the plate with one round still to go.

Despite only finishing third in South America, Cairoli reigns supreme at the top of the standings.

Out of the first seven and a half rounds of Motocross Grand Prix this season, Cairoli made it to the podium 12 times in 15 races. On the three occasions the 28-year-old failed to make the podium, he still finished inside the top five.

Despite his achievements, Cairoli still has some way to go to become the most successful rider in the history of motocross.

That honour still belongs to Stefan Everts of Belgium, who has claimed ten World Championships.

Germany's Max Nagl was the overall winner of the Brazil Grand Prix, scoring wins in both races for the full 50 points.
