The United States basketball team trained on Friday (5th September) at Barcelona's Palau Sant Jordi Arena, in preparation for Saturday's round of sixteen game against Mexico at the 2014 FIBA World Cup.

"I think we're a good team. We still have to get better. One thing about winning a World Championship or the Olympics is that you have to earn it. It has nothing to do with who's the favourite, press clippings or predictions. It has to do with performance."

"I mean, it's still in process. But I feel like we're definitely in a better place than when we first started off. And that's the most important thing going into this, the round of sixteen. You know, there are lot of good teams. Looking forward to the challenge - you know, it's going to challenge us mentally and physically and I'm looking forward to it."

"They've come a long way. It's been fourteen years, so, they've definitely come a long way. They've looked pretty good in the tournament. Every game that they've played they've been close. So they are a really good team."

"Being a sure candidate doesn't really mean anything. Sometimes number one seeds get knocked off, they get upset. So we don't focus on that. We focus on each and every opponent we face. We take them seriously and we go out and we just compete as hard as we can."
