    US captain Tom Watson explains the reasoning behind selecting Keegan Bradley, Hunter Mahan and Webb Simpson as his wildcards for the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.

    SOUNDBITE: English, Tom Watson on Ryder Cup experience being a factor in his decision:

    "Experience was a big factor. All three players have either an even record or a winning record at the Ryder Cup. Those positive thoughts about playing on the Ryder Cup, they go along way. Webb is 2-2, Hunter and Keegan are better better than 50/50 and I think that's a very positive thing for them to go in and play."

    SOUNDBITE: English, Tom Watson on picking Webb Simpson:

    "As I said the final decision of Webb was the toughest of the decisions because Webb had some good play and he had some bad play, he missed a few cuts recently, but he's shown what he can do."

    SOUNDBITE: English, Tom Watson on not picking Deutsche Bank winner Chris Kirk:

    "Well chris made it pretty clear yesterday -- actually when I was watching the tournament -- he made the comment earlier in the week that he didn't expect to get on the team because he didn't earn his way on the team. 'I want to earn my way on the team.' And I said to myself, man, I like that attitude. And it made it a little bit easier for me to tell him..."
