  • Intro:

Germany trained in Dusseldorf on Tuesday (2nd September) ahead of their friendly match against Argentina, which will be a repeat of the 2014 FIFA World Cup final.

    Script:

World champions Germany play their first match since lifting the World Cup trophy in Rio de Janeiro after beating Argentina 1-0 in the final of the competition in July.
Ironically their opponent on Wednesday in Dusseldorf is Argentina.
A repeat of the fiercely contested final and Argentina will surely be looking for revenge.
Mario Gomez, who wasn't selected for the World Cup squad, and Marco Reus, who missed out because of injury, were among the players who trained on Tuesday. Both will be looking to impress if they are to regain their places in a hugely competitive Germany squad.
The team will also be without Philipp Lahm who retired after the World Cup, meaning that Bastian Schweinsteiger will take the captains armband after he was announced as the new skipper after an impressive tournament in the summer.
Argentina will be without star man Lionel Messi for the friendly, which is also new coach and former Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino's first game in charge of the national team since he replaced Alejandro Sabella after the World Cup.
