  • Intro:

Argentina trained on Tuesday (2nd September) for their international friendly against Germany on Wednesday (3rd September), a repeat of the 2014 FIFA World Cup final.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) Gerardo Martino, Argentina coach (Q: What are your thoughts now ahead of your first game as new Argentina coach?)
"Well, the most important thing is what the national team will get out of it. By chance we are playing against the World Champions. Equally, it will be a match played at the very highest level. In relation to the team, the most important thing is for me to speak with the players who haven't been playing recently, those who played on the weekend and those who might have minor knocks. So today's training will help determine the team that will play."

SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) Gerardo Martino, Argentina coach (Q: Will the tactics of Argentina in be the same as you have played with your former teams?)
"Certainly we'll play a 4-3-3 that is flexible. Though tomorrow a little bit will depend on how the German central midfield is set up. I recall during the World Cup they played some games with one holding midfielder and two ahead. The other games they had two players as the pivots and one ahead. So the central midfield functioned a little bit differently."
