New Zealand's Emma Twigg completed an unbeaten season by capturing the glory in the women's single sculls final at the 2014 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam.

The Kiwi was put under real pressure by reigning world champion Kim Crow of Australia in the first 500 metres, but powered ahead at the halfway point and took it for New Zealand.

In the men's single sculls it was the Czech Republic's Ondrej Synek who successfully defended his crown.

Victory in the women's eight went to the USA - who maintained their record of having won at every World Championships and Olympic Games since 2006.

Great Britain finished their campaign with a successful defence of the men's eight title.

The GB octet came home ahead of Olympic champions Germany.

In the men's double sculls it was the Croatian brothers Martin and Valent Sinkovic who prevailed.

In the women's New Zealand took the honours through Fiona Bourke and Zoe Stevenson.

    SOUNDBITE (English): Fiona Bourke:

"We had no idea what was going on, we were just trying to take as much as we could."

The lightweight men's four was won by Denmark in a world best time of five minutes 43.160 seconds.

New Zealand took silver whilst Great Britain just held off a flying French crew for bronze.
