SOUNDBITE (English): Roger Federer, defeated Sam Groth 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, on whether Groth was intimidated in the third set:
"By then he's in the match. I had my opportunities early on in the third as well, so I was just hanging on. Maybe the pressure got to him a little bit just because of my opportunities I created. I understand where you're coming from, but I don't necessarily agree that it's always an advantage being the favourite or former world No. 1 or Grand Slam champion, because I really do believe a lot of guys come out swinging against us, and they usually play above what they usually can."
SOUNDBITE (English): Sam Groth, was defeated by Roger Federer 4-6, 4-6, 4-6:
"Yeah. I mean, obviously it was an enjoyable experience. Like I said, I'm pleased playing in front of a crowd as big as the amount of people here [a dozen journalists], so to play on a packed house on Friday night against the greatest of all time, yeah, it's an unbelievable experience. To be honest, I feel I should have won the third set. Game points at 4-2, game points at 4-all. I didn't execute when I needed to."
SOUNDBITE (English): Maria Sharapova, defeated Sabine Lisicki 6-2, 6-4, on having trouble with her serve:
"Yeah, it wasn't [there for a while]. But it felt like I needed to compensate with other parts of my game, and I think I did a good job of that. Because she's a very dangerous and tricky opponent, and she's capable of playing really well at the slams and always raising her level against the top players. That was something I was very well aware of. I thought I stepped up to the challenge."
