American wrestlers fight in North Korea

Sunday, August 31 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Pro wrestling event takes place in Pyongyang on Saturday (30th August) between Japanese and American fighters.

    Script:

Pro wrestlers brought circus-style mayhem to Pyongyang.

It was a rare display in North Korea, which included Americans and Japanese throwing themselves around a ring, and the Americans winning the bout.

The event was organised by a former Japanese pro wrestler turned politician Inoki Kanji.

American heavyweights Bob Sapp and Jon Andersen clashed with Japanese fighters Shogun Okamoto and Sawada Atsushi, with the Americans coming out on top.

The pro wrestling event is taking place both Saturday and Sunday here in North Korea.

On Friday, the wrestlers got a chance to mingle with North Koreans as part of an attempt to improve relations between North Korea and the States.

Three of the fighters performed a stunt of pulling a coach, and then Bob Sapp played arm-wrestling with North Korean children.

Wrestler Sapp played crowd favourite and kept himself popular in North Korea by graciously losing an arm wrestle.

The wrestling continues tomorrow with more fighting between Japanese and their American counterparts.
