  • Intro:

Post match reaction from Nottingham after India comprehensively beat England by 6 wickets with seven overs to spare in the third One Day International (ODI) on Saturday (30th August), to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

SOUNDBITE (English) Alastair Cook, England captain(On the England team not playing well collectively):

"No, we didn't. We didn't play the spin very well and obviously we didn't play it very well in Cardiff either, but you know they (India) bowled well. They did turn it as well, so you've got to give them some credit. Obviously (Ravichandran) Ashwin and (Ravindra) Jadeja are very good at one-day cricket spin bowling, but you know, we had a few soft dismissals and a few good balls as well, and every time you tried to build a partnership, you lost wickets and that obviously holds you back if you want to play aggressively."

SOUNDBITE (English) Alastair Cook, England captain(On getting good starts but failing to post big totals):

"I thought we got off to a really good start again today, so I don't think it's so much... Everyone keeps talking about more power at the top, you know, 50-odd off ten the other day and 50 off nine yesterday, or three days ago (actually referring to the second and third ODIs). We're getting good starts, the problem is that 40 was our top score last week at Cardiff and 44 was our top score here. You are not winning games of cricket when you do that. We know how important big runs are at the top of the order. One of the top four or five going on to get a hundred or an eighty, sets the game up and you can build partnerships and we're just not doing that at the moment. That's what's really hurting us."
