North Korea won their first gold at this year's International Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China on Wednesday, after wrestler Kim Sonhyang beat Mongolia's Dulguun Bolormaa in the women's freestyle 46 kilogram category.

The current Asian champion proved the more experienced player, demonstrating four successful takedowns that made the score 8-0, however Bolormaar struck with a single-leg attack which awarded her five points.

Despite the Mongolian's strong efforts, Kim did not back down and went on to win 9-5 on points, clinching gold for North Korea.

Moldova's Tatiana Doncila took the bronze.

Meanwhile on the archery field, it was neighbours South Korea who were making headlines. 17 year old prodigy Lee Woo Seok took the men's gold after winning 7-3 against Brazilian Marcus D'Almeida.

After smashing the men's individual world record last week, Lee shot straight bulls-eyes in four of the five sets in the final on Wednesday, making it difficult for D'Almeida to keep up.

The Brazilian made an impressive effort, even beating Lee in the fourth set, but missed three bullseyes, giving the Korean a further advantage in the quest for gold. India's Atul Verma claimed bronze.
