Putin visits completed Otkrytie Arena

    Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the newly-constructed Otkrytie Arena in Moscow on Wednesday (27 August).

    Script:

    Spartak Moscow's new 42,000-seater stadium, the Otkrytie Arena, will officially open on 5th September when Spartak face Serbian side Red Star Belgrade in a friendly.

    The stadium will be one of the venues for the 2018 World Cup.

    However, Spartak's old home, the Luzhniki Stadium will also play host to the tournament in four years time and is likely to host the final of the tournament.

    Vladimir Putin visited the stadium on Wedensday to get an eyeful of the $420 million arena.

    A visit that coincided with a training session of Spartak's youth academy and the Russian president took the opportunity to stay and watch.

    It will also be one of four stadiums used for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.
