China claim photo finish gold in Nanjing 400m's

    Early & late action from day nine of the Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China on Monday (25th August).

    Script:

    Day Nine of the Youth Olympic Games saw China's Xu Zhihang win the men's 400m hurdles in the athletics morning session at the Olympic Stadium.

    Clearing the last hurdle, Xu led but had Jlasi closing fast on his outside.

    The pair were inseperable when they crossed the line, both recording 50.61 seconds.

    Xu took the gold after a photo finish - thanks to his dive for the line.

    The men's football semi finals were staged on Sunday.

    Peru took on Cape Verde in the first semi final.

    After conceded an early goal, Peru pulled one back in the second half after a penalty scored with Franklin Gil.

    A Cape Verde's own goal in the 57th minute and a Fernando Pacheco effort gave Peru the 3-1 victory and the ticket to the final.

    The South Americans will play South Korea in the final after they defeat Iceland on penalties.

    Having won the 10m platform competition on Saturday, China's Wu Shengping was in her quest to the second gold as she led after the qualifying round in women's the 3m springboard.

    The 18-year-old's second dive scored 68.60 - the highest of the day.

    In the wrestling, Islambek Dadov of Azebaijan became the winner in the 69kg division by defeating Mason Manville of the United States.

    The Games continued on Tuesday before the final day of action Wednesday.
