Fastest Bundesliga goal sinks Dortmund

  • Intro:

Highlights from the opening weekend of the German Bundesliga, which saw wins for Bayer Leverkusen -- with Werkself's Karim Bellarabi netting the quickest goal in Bundesliga history -- and Hannover 96 whilst Paderborn and Mainz 05 played out a four-goal draw.

    Script:

Karim Bellarabi scored the fastest goal in German top-flight history on Saturday to help Bayer Leverkusen beat Borussia Dortmund.

Three passes after kick-off, the 24-year-old midfielder received the ball on the edge of the Dortmund box before turning and sliding in from 15 yards after just nine seconds.

    Stefan Kiessling's injury-time effort sealed a 2-0 win.

Also victorious on the opening Bundesliga weekend was Hannover, who came from behind to defeat Schalke.

The Champions League group stage qualifiers went ahead through Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

Edgar Prib then drew Hannover level before he set-up Joselu to net the winner and claim a major scalp.

Around 150km south is recently-promoted Paderborn, who played out a four-goal draw with Mainz.

The score was 1-1 with just minutes left on the clock when Uwe Hunemeier appeared to snatch victory for last year's second division runners-up.

But in the last minute of stoppage time Hunemeier fouled Shinji Okazaki in the area and Ja-Cheol Koo held his nerve to rescue a 2-2 draw.
