Brazilian striker Fred endured a miserable summer and things haven't got much better recently.

Booed off by his own fans at the World Cup, Fred and his Fluminense teamates have suffered three defeats, in their last three games in the Brazilian Championship.

This caused some fans to vent their displeasure - and a small group of Flumimnense supporters waited at an airport in Rio, for the team's arrival following their latest loss.

But Fred took to social media to defend himself stating:

"If nothing is done by the authorities Fluminense will not play on Sunday. The fans will use their weapons and we will use ours."

Fred also branded the fans 'vandals' after a "Fred Out" message was painted on a wall at the team's headquarters.

Fluminense, historically one of the bigges and most successful clubs in Brazilian football managed to avoid relegation last year, staying in the top flight only after another club lost points for using a suspended player in the last round.

Fluminense currently lie 5th in the Brazilian league table.
