  • Intro:

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet said that it was "very difficult to see a team like Manchester United losing two games in a row" as they face Louis van Gaal's side in the English Premier League at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gus Poyet, Sunderland manager (Q: From a managers point of view, how much are you looking forward to coming up against Louis van Gaal?)

"Well it's always important to play against top teams and normally the top teams they've got top, top managers and you need to be very smart and you need to be quick, you need to read the game well because probably they've got more experience than you and you need to challenge yourself as well to make it difficult for them. Yeah another good challenge in my career."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gus Poyet, Sunderland manager (Q: Do you take those good memories against Manchester United from last season into this game?)

"Yes it's a different one this one, new manager and they lost the first games so I'm sure they're going to react. Very difficult to see a team like Manchester United losing two games in a row. We don't know the system that they're going to play, which bring in a little bit of uncertainty as well. So we need to try to be ready for any encounter and any system and just play the game to the best of our ability. We need to be good and we need to be better than last week, especially on the ball to have a chance to win the game."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gus Poyet, Sunderland manager (Q: Vito Mannone said that despite Manchester United having a new manager, Sunderland do not fear them anymore. Do you sense that confidence among the squad?)

"The players that were here with me last year, they do have that feeling that they can go and perform against the top teams for a style, for a way of playing. You know sometimes for a reason that we were looking last year and we couldn't find, it was better for us to play against the top teams. Can we maintain that, well it's a good challenged this one. Can we be better against the rest of the teams as well is the other part of my plan."
