John McEnroe, four-time winner at the US Open, believes Andy Murray needs a successful tournament at Flushing Meadows to prove he's back to his best.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) John McEnroe, four-time US Open champion:
(On the form and chances for Andy Murray, the 2012 champion)

"It's difficult to say because it seems like the physical issues are behind him, or so we think. We don't know, obviously, exactly what's going on. And clearly it's been a process for him, and so that sort of takes its toll on his confidence. And he made a big change (of coach to Amelie Mauresmo) - him and Ivan (Lendl, former coach) worked well together and to sort of change horses, so to speak, at the time that he did was tricky. So it sort of remains to be seen what's going to happen there. You sort of need to give him a little more time and you sort of feel like the (US) Open will be a time when he needs to step up because it's been a bit of a struggle compared to what he had shown the previous couple of years."
