Sparta had a free-kick on the stroke of half time which David Lafata struck.
Ostrava survived and clung on for a famous 1-0 win.
At the Stinadlech, another lesser team Teplice played home to Slavia Prague.
A gift may have come for Ostrava, yet Teplice's opener was quality. Francis Litsingi with the finish.
And Teplice didn't retreat. Nivaldo was set up on the edge of the box and the deflection gave the home side a 2-0 lead.
Slavia pulled one back to make it 2-1 and it wasn't enough to stop another upset..
With both Prague teams losing, Viktoria Plzen had the chance to go top on Sunday against promoted Hradec Kralove.
Any chance of an upset here was soon silenced with a wonder strike from David Limbersky.
One shortly became two and then three, then Milan Petrazela finished off the game making it four for the new leaders of the Czech Liga.
