Brittany Lincicome takes a one-stroke lead into the final round of the Wegmans LPGA Championship in New York, as her three-shot lead is reduced.

The Erie Canal neighbours the Monroe Golf Club in New York where Brittany Lincicome continued to swim ahead of the field in the third round on Saturday.

But only just. The American was three shots clear at halfway but the tide turned and a round of 71 allowed Norway's Suzann Pettersen to close the gap to just one shot.

Pettersen made the biggest move of the day with a superb five-under par 67, battling back from a bogey at the first to pick up six birdies and claim a place in the final group on Sunday.

The 33-year-old is tied in second with world number one Inbee Park, who sank four birdies and a bogey in a round of 69.

The trio have a two shot advantage on Mirim Lee of South Korea, who also shot 69 to move to seven-under.

And it proved an awful day for first-round leader Lexi Thompson, who slumped to a two-over 74 and is now in a logjam for 11th place, some six strokes behind Lincicome with 18 holes remaining.
