404 days. That's how long it's been since Andy Murray last won an ATP title. The 2013 Wimbledon champion will have to wait a little longer after being knocked out of the Cincinnati Masters quarter-finals by Roger Federer on Friday.

After losing the first set, Murray fought back to lead 4-2 in the second but he lost three of his next four service games as the Swiss rediscovered his first-set form to win 6-3 7-5.

The man with 17 grand slam titles goes on to face Canadian fifth seed Milos Raonic.

Also into the last four is David Ferrer, who prevailed in this all-Spanish quarter-final against Tommy Robredo.

Robredo knocked out world number one Novak Djokovic in the last round but it was Ferrer who claimed the first set.

The world number 20 battled back to win the second and level the match.

Ferrer -- whose father is an accountant -- took the third to secure victory and he'll now be trying to calculate a way past Frenchman Julien Benneteau.
