The European Tour returned to Danish soil for the first time in over a decade for the "Made in Denmark" event. and the Danes were determined to win .

Thorbjorn Oleson was one who excelled - he sank a lengthy putt at the par-three 16th hole for a birdie there - to rapturous applause from the fans.

It was one of just two birdies in his highly consistent round as he carded a two-under-par round of 69 to lie three shots off the lead.

Ahead of him, it's a three way tie for the lead.

Welshman Bradley Dredge is one of those out in front.

He started his round at the 10th hole and reached the turn one-under-par but five birdies on the back nine meant he reached the clubhouse in 66, five-under-par.

Joining him at that mark is Chilean Felipe Aguilar.

He also started his round at the 10th hole and shot birdies on the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth holes to ensure that he finished in style for his round of 66.

The third player of the leading trio was local favourite Thomas Bjorn.

Having also started at the tenth hole, an awkward putt at the third gave him his third birdie of the round.

Others followed at the fourth and eighth holes in the blustery conditions and with no dropped shots in his round, he also carded 66.
