(Q: Have your friends Bernie Ecclestone or Flavio Briatore given you any advice going into Formula E?)
"Not really, I think both Bernie and Flavio are not very convinced about this whole electric idea. They're more, let's say, petrol heads, probably like me, like I was before getting involved in Formula E. So they're just watching with curiosity, I would say (to see) what happens and what I hope is I can win them over when we start racing and they will come to the races and take Formula E as it is -- a new kind of motorsport. It's not at all a competition [to compare] to anything else, but it is a different kind of racing."

(Q: We've seen the likes of A1GP come and go, what makes you so sure that Formula E is here to stay?)
"We think Formula E is different because those other series were trying to compete with Formula One and you cannot compete with Formula One, it's not possible. Formula One is strong, it's too strong and we don't want to compete with Formula One. We think Formula E has to look for its own space, new technology, younger demographic, try to attract manufacturers that want to go into the electric space with new electric powered trends, with new technology, that's how we will achieve to be different and then we can be successful. We have to be a different proposition altogether, otherwise we will fail."
