More bad weather greeted the golfers for the early stages of the fourth and final round of the USPGA Championship on Sunday.

But, yet again, the staff performed heroics in making the course playable.

Phil Mickelson gave immediate notice of intent, with birdie at the par 4, 10th.

And as overnight leader Rory McIlroy struggled with bogeys at the 3rd and 6th, Rickie Fowler and Henrik Stenson made it a three-way tie for the lead with Mickelson on the back nine.

Fowler set up birdie at the par 3, 3rd with a beautiful tee shot, continuing his fantastic run of recent form.

Stenson's approach here at the par 4, 5th also set up birdie for him.

McIlroy eventually roused himself with a stunning second shot at the par 5, 10th to set up an eagle. A hole that kicked started his round and gave him some much needed momentum.

As Mickelson, Stenson and Fowler dropped shots on the closing stretch, McIlroy powered back in front.

A birdie at the 17th put him in control, before he holed the required par putt at the 18th.

McIlroy finished on a 16-under-par 268 - one ahead of Mickelson and two shots in front of Stenson and Fowler.

The victory was his third in a row, following The Open and World Golf Championship event last week at Firestone.
