Asian Games torch reaches Deli

    The 2014 Asian Games torch relay begins with a lighting ceremony in New Delhi, India.

    Script:

    The countdown to the 2014 Asian Games began on Saturday with the lighting of the torch in Delhi, India.

    The torch will now make its way to Incheon, South Korea -- which will host the 17th Asian Games from the 19th of September to the 1st of October.

    The torch was lit in Delhi's Dhyan Chand stadium in the presence of Indian and South Korean dignitaries and athletes.

    Indian athletes began the first-leg of the relay which will go on to to visit Hanoi, Vietnam and Guangzhou in China, both previous hosts of the Games.

    Delhi hosted the first Asian Games in 1951 and has since been given the honour of being the site from which the torch leaves for its journey to the host city.

    The competiton will see countries competing in six sports.

    Events include boxing, rugby, golf and sepak takraw, a hybrid of volleyball and football.
