The waves of El Medano were hosts to a tightly-contested PWA Windsurfing World Cup event on Saturday.

In the men's fleet, two-time world champion Philip Koster from Germany was victorious after a typically consistent performance.

Koster was delighted with his win:

"Yes, I am super-happy with the victory here. It was a hard final but I managed it. First final wasn't good but the second one was very good. Thomas Traversa was very on fire, so so stoked to win this event for the fourth time."

The women's fleet was a family affair -- Spainaird Daida Ruano Moreno seeing off the challenge of her sister Iballa for the title.

Daida was full of praise for her sibling:

"This result here in El Medano, Cabezo, is for me simply great. I was looking for this for a while now. Iballa has been sailing really good. So, for me, it was really tough to beat her even twice."

Next up is Turkey later this month.
