Tiger Woods tests his injured back with a practice round at Valhalla Golf Club on the eve of the US PGA Championship in Kentucky.

    Script:

Tiger Woods made his long-awaited appearance at Valhalla Golf Club just after midday on Wednesday.

The 14-time major winner has been in doubt for the year's final major since withdrawing from last Sunday's final round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational with a back injury.

Woods was all smiles on the driving range on Tuesday and appeared to swing without discomfort.

Having passed that test, he joined fellow Americans Steve Stricker, Harris English and Davis Love III for a practice round.

Despite appearing to be playing without pain, the four-time PGA champion has yet to confirm whether he'll play in the event.

The 38-year-old has until 10 minutes before Thursday's tee-off time to decide if he will start.

If Woods doesn't play, it would be the first time in his career he has missed three of the year's four majors.

It would also put his participation in September's Ryder Cup in jeopardy.
