The organisers of Asia's premier cycling event, the Tour of Beijing, said on Wednesday they hope the 2014 edition will be staged in the territories of Beijing and Zhangjiakou, which are jointly bidding for the right to host the 2022 Winter Olympics.

"It will be the last edition of this event this year. UCI and Beijing municipal government both are very concerned about the future development of the of Tour of Beijing. However, we will focus on this edition of the event and make every effort to have a successful one this year, rather than thinking about the future right now. After the event is over, we will sit down and do some research and analyse the value of staging such an event in Beijing and then we will see if we will consider to continue to host this event."
