Glasgow bid a fond farewell to the Commonwealth Games on Sunday (3rd August) as Hampden Park hosted the closing ceremony.

After 11 days of action across 17 sports, the event came to a close with hosts Scotland finishing fourth overall with a record haul of 19 golds and a best-ever tally of 53 medals.

Welsh gymnast Frankie Jones was honoured with the David Dixon Award for her outstanding Commonwealth Games performance.

Jann Stuckey, Queensland Minister for the Commonwealth Games, extended an invitation to all 71 nations and territories, as the Gold Coast prepare to host the 2018 Games.

The ceremony concluded with typical Scottish flavour drawing to a close with a lone piper on the roof of Hampden Park leading a rendition of Auld Lang Syne.
