There was double success for Switzerland as Nino Schurter and Jolanda Neff won the men's and women's UCI Mountain Bike World Cup event at Mont-Sainte-Anne in Canada on Sunday (3rd August).

    Script:

The men's race saw competitors doing a start loop followed by seven laps.

Nino Schurter took the lead on the first lap but was pursued by Julien Absalon, who recovered from a bad start.

The Frenchman duly took the lead, but Schurter was in pursuit.

The Swiss eventually overtook his opponent and won with around 20 seconds to spare over Absalon, while Australian Daniel McConnell was third.

Absalon still leads the World Cup standings, he's now on 1090 points, with second-placed Schurter on 830 points and third-placed McConnell on 690 points.

In the women's race a start loop was followed by six laps.

Swiss rider Jolanda Neff was utterly dominant and led from start to finish

She survived a small fall and finished one minute ahead of home favourite Catharine Pendrel, while Czech Katerina Nash was third.

Neff extended her lead in the World Cup standings, she's on 900 points, with Canadian Emily Batty second on 590 points with Slovakian Tanja Zakelj third on 588.
