The 2014 London triathlon attracted a number of elite athletes to the English capital on Sunday.

The elite men and women competed over the Olympic distances of a 1.5 kilometre swim, a 40 kilometre cycle and a 10 kilometre run.

Cheered on by an estimated 30,000 spectators, Britain's Emma Pallant pulled away in the women's elite race in the run and maintained her lead throughout.

Second across the finish line was Kate Roberts of South Africa.

While Briton, India Lee, took the bronze.

In the elite men's competition, British athletes dominated again.

David Bishop pulled out a lead on the cycling leg and was clear of the field as the run began.

He couldn't maintain the pace though and was chased down by compatriot Mark Buckingham.

Buckingham sped past and broke the tape in 1 hour 42 mniutes and 11 seconds, with Bishop finishing 36 seconds later.

    Sam Wade took third place.
