Home favourite Jari-Matti Latvala retained his lead of the Rally of Finland after the first two stages, but his Volkswagen team-mate Sebastien Ogier was just 3.7 seconds behind

    Script:

The fourth and final day of the Rally of Finland, which featured just three stages, did not go well for Ireland's Craig Breen.

He had a heavy landing on one jump which left him needing medical attention and brought an end to his race.

Great Britain's Kris Meeke remained in control of third place.

He started the final morning nearly 50 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.

The Citroen driver remained on course for the best result of his career.

Following a brake problem for the leader Jari-Matti Latvala late on Saturday, his Volkswagen team-mate Sebastien Ogier was back in the chase for victory.

Beginning the last morning just 3.4 seconds behind, the world champion was on the attack.

Latvala, having conceded his half a minute was not going down without a fight.

With a stunning turn of speed, the home favourite maintained his slim advantage, beating Ogier by 1.6 seconds.

Ogier responded by winning the following stage, and with just one more stage to go the margin was very close - just 3.7 seconds between the Finn and the Frenchman.
