The 2014 UCI Women's Road World Cup resumed on Sunday with round six in Germany.
The Sparkassan Giro is a 124-kilometre race made up of eight laps of 15.5 kilometres in the city of Bochum, Germany.
Every lap included a climb and the course design proved to be an unknown for all those taking part.
Defending champion Christine Majerus made a significant push for top spot but fell short on this occasion.
Victory went to Marianne Vos of the Rabo-Liv team.
The world champion crossed the finish line in a bunch sprint, beating Wiggle Honda rider Giorgia Bronzini, with Lotta Lepisto of the Bigla Cycling Team third.
Nevertheless, Lizzie Armistead, who won Sunday's road race at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, remains as leader of the World Cup series.
