England's Nicola Adams became the first female Commonwealth Games boxing champion on Saturday.

The 31-year-old beat Northern Ireland's Michaela Walsh in the women's flyweight final in Glasgow.

The Leeds boxer landed the cleaner shots throughout the four-round contest and was awarded a split decision.

However Belfast's Walsh said she felt "cheated" at the result.

There was some joy for the Northern Irish when Paddy Barnes retained his Commonwealth Games light-flyweight title.

The Belfast-born fighter out-pointed India's Devendro Laishram in the Hydro to claim a clear points victory and add to the title he won in Delhi four years ago.
