Serena Williams showed her fighting qualities to come back and defeat Ana Ivanovic at the 'Bank of the west' classic in California.

She lost the first set to the Serbian 2-6, but took the second by 6 games to three.

Williams then dropped three consecutive games to go 4-3 down in the deciding set before rattling off 7 straight points in front of a sell-out crowd in Stanford.

And after serving the match out.... to move into the semi finals - Williams will now play the German Andrea Petkovic who defeated Venus Williams in the other quarter final
