Arguably the shock of the Commonwealth Games so far on Thursday evening as David Rudisha, the reigning 800m Olympic Champion and current world record holder, had to settle for silver. 20-year old Nijel Amos from Botswana ran a stunning home straight to pip the Kenyan at the line and take gold in 1:45:18.

Even without Usain Bolt Jamaica enjoyed a one-two-three in the men's 200 metres.

Rasheed Dwyer (20.14) clinched the gold ahead of hot favourite Warren Weir (20.26) and Jason Livermore (20.32).

In gymnastics, England's Claudia Fragapane won gold in the women's vault final, her third of the Games after she claimed team and all-around gold earlier in the week.

And Scotland's Daniel Keatings won gold in the men's pommel horse.

England claimed silver and bronze through Max Whitlock and 2012 pin-up Louis Smith.

And England's Sophie Tolchard, Ellen Falkner and Sian Honnor beat Australia in style to clinch gold in the women's lawn bowls triples at Kelvingrove.
