  • Intro:

Germanys Bayern Munich make a winning start to their pre-season despite being without their world cup winning stars.

    Script:

The Bayern coach Pep Guardiola was without his German World Cup winning players for this game, but his team were still expected to beat their Mexican opponents

So it was something of a surprise when Chivas created the first chance after six minutes - space opening up in front of Aldo De Nigris who failed to trouble the goalkeeper

And just four minutes later, Bayern went in front.

Franck Ribery, with the corner met by Claudio Pizarro with a low header at the near post.

The same two players nearly made it two nil - when Ribery's cross was fired just wide by Pizarro

Bayern's new signing Robert Lewandowski, who arrived from Dortmund is still settling in at his new team, but was part of some good attacking play

And with nine minutes left, Chivas were presented the opportunity to equalise.

Sergio Napoles with the cross but , Carlos Fierro could only volley directly at the Bayern goalkeeper Tom Starke

Bayern ran out 1-0 winners - their pre-season getting off to the perfect start.
