Intro:
Australian weightlifter Francois Etoundi pleaded guilty on Thursday (July 31st) to assaulting a Welsh athlete at the Commonwealth Games.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Perry Crosswhite, Australian Commonwealth Games chief executive:
"I feel sympathy for Francois. Francois has a background of a Cameroonian refugee. Basically came to lift weights at the 2006 Games (in Melbourne) and stayed. He's had some of his family join him out there. There's a number of people who are his friends and family in that situation. He's done his best for our country and then this has happened, so that's disappointing."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Perry Crosswhite, Australian Commonwealth Games chief executive:
"There's a fine to pay from here, but he will now because of your reporting and other things, he'll be known around the country for what he's done."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Perry Crosswhite, Australian Commonwealth Games chief executive (asked if the recent issues within the team damages the reputation of Australia's Commonwealth Games delegation):
"With respect to the two incidents, and that's what they are, yes it's not good. From the Australian Commonwealth Games Association we are very concerned that has happened and we just hope that there isn't any more. You get towards the end of the Games... and in Delhi remember we had a few issues there, if any of you were brave enough to go, and it just seems to happen more and more at these games. I'm getting really old now and I keep going back to the time when I was in teams and wonder whether these things happened and I think they did, but I don't think people found out about them."
