Alejandro Sabella has resigned as Argentina coach after steering La Albiceleste to the 2014 World Cup final.

Reports suggest the 59-year-old has told FA president Julio Grondona that he is standing down, after Argentina were beaten by Germany in extra time at the Maracanã.

José Pékerman is the early favourite to succeed Sabella. The 64-year-old former taxi driver steered Colombia to the quarter-finals in Brazil.
