SOUNDBITE (English) Mike Hooper, chief executive of Glasgow 2014:
(Announcing the Games' first doping test)
"Early yesterday afternoon we issued a formal notice of disclosure to an athlete following an adverse analytical finding as a consequence of her in competition test. That athlete is Nigerian weightlifter Chika Amalaha who was tested on July 25th. Miss Amalaha has now been provisionally suspended from the Commonwealth Games here in Glasgow."
SOUNDBITE (English) Mike Hooper, chief executive of Glasgow 2014:
(On doubts over credibility of the weightlifting program)
"I think the sport of weight lifting is a fantastic sport. It's a strong Olympic sport. It's in the Commonwealth Games program and what we want to send is a strong message to anybody in any sport who would go down the path of taking any substance to enhance performance - they will be caught. That's what the whole anti-doping world is working (on) to ensure that occurs. It's an ongoing battle but it is one we will never step back from. Weightlifting is a very strong Commonwealth sport. It's part of our core program."
SOUNDBITE (English) Mike Hooper, chief executive of Glasgow 2014:
(On the possible process of stripping the medal)
"The matter is in process. We don't prejudge things. At the end of the process whatever comes out of that following announcements will be made. It is a statement of fact anybody who is found to have committed an anti-doping rule violation, and we're not there yet in relation to this there's further work to be done, is disqualification and obviously return of the medals and re-awarding of the medals. If ultimately that is the outcome."
