Teffers looking to future with Australia

  • Intro:

Members of Australia's Commonwealth Games swimming team spoke to the media in Glasgow, Scotland on Tuesday (July 29th).

    Script:

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Ben Treffers:

"I think it is two different teams in a sense, and we have really moved on from 2012, and it's just something that happens in sport - you don't have a good meet. And I think that's what happened in 2012, and we're all looking forward to the future and the next meet. As all of us said here we're all looking forward to PanPacs (Pan Pacific Swimming Championships) and then what's on from there, so I think for the swimmers, they don't look back to the past because it's something you can't change, whereas we're all focused on what we can do in the future."

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Taylor McKeown:

"I guess in a way it is an advantage for Australia, because if you've raced well it's going to give you the confidence that you can do it again, like it is possible. I don't think it'll affect the other countries too much that haven't had that opportunity, because most of them had trials this year, so they've already had a practice meet, where they can race fast and also get their confidence for the next lot of races."

SOUNDBITE: (English) David McKeon (on any Commonwealth Games stories told to him by his parents, who also swam for Australia):

"I guess, (my) dad did tell me a story that back in his day when they used to do doping and drug testing they used to serve beers in the drug testing hall, so it's definitely changed a lot since then!"
