SOUNDBITE (English) Anna Meares, Australian cycling great (On finishing her Commonwealth Games with a silver medal):

"I'm really happy with this. This is the eight medal from nine starts over twelve years of Commonwealth Games competition for me. It's not a win, but I haven't won all of them. That's what sports about and the competition, it's fantastic. It's always sometimes a little bit more difficult these big races that you work so hard for and you just would desperately love to win like Steph(anie Morton) said. You dream of it as a kid, I've been there before, I know what it feels like and I know what she's experiencing so as much as I'm a little disappointed for myself, I'm so happy for her."

SOUNDBITE (English) Anna Meares, Australian cycling great (On gold medallist Stephanie Morton bringing Anna up to sing the national anthem on the podium):

"She broke me, she absolutely broke me. I was very happy to stay on my silver medal podium and she insisted and she insisted and it was very big of her. Very special for me."

SOUNDBITE (English) Stephanie Morton, Australian cycling gold medallist (On bringing Anna Meares up to the podium to sing the national anthem):

"It wasn't something I thought of until we were down and waiting to head up for the medal ceremony. For me Anna has always been that person that I look up to. I mean she's Anna Meares and I just couldn't think of anything better than to sing the national anthem with her so it was a bit of a no-brainer for me."
