    American Steven LoBue finishes in first place at the Cliff Diving World Series in the Azores, Portugal, on Saturday.

    American Steven LoBue was in top form in the Azores as the Cliff Diving World Series continued in Portugal on Saturday.

    On his way to victory, LoBue collected the most points for a single dive, when a quint somersault with half-a-twist earned him a total score of 468.15. The 29-year-old said he was pleased to exceed his expectations:

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Steven LoBue.

    "The goal is always to win, obviously. And I say that a lot but when I go to a competition that's the plan. Yes top five at the very least is where I want to stay. That way we can automatically qualify for next year and start looking forward to some more progress."

    Orlando Duque had the opportunity to overhaul LoBue in top spot but the Colombian agonizingly finished 10 points short of the lead with an overall score of 458.

    Third place went to American David Colturi, who notched up 436.40 points.
