Script:
The Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland in America played host to the penultimate round of the International Crown competition on Saturday.
Results conspired to leave America occupying third place in Pool A. That left Lexi Thompson and Cristie Kerr to face South Korea's Inbee Park and So Yeon Ryu in a sudden death playoff hole to determine who would advance to Sunday's final.
Thompson then missed her 10-foot putt, while Ryu tapped in her birdie putt to clinch the victory for South Korea.
According to the unique wildcard format, that eliminated the U.S.
The Koreans will join Spain, Thailand, Japan and Sweden on Sunday in a battle for the title.
Points accumulated over the first three days carry over to the final round, when each country plays one singles match against every other nation.
The team with the most points wins the inaugural International Crown.
