Spain's Fernando Verdasco reached the semi-finals of the Suisse Open in Gstaad after beating wild card Viktor Troicki of Serbia 6-4, 6-7(7), 6-1 in his second match of the day on Friday.

Verdasco started the day beating Jan-Lennard Struff 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(3) in the second round. The pair resumed at 1-1 in the third set and complete the match on Friday morning.

The fourth seed then looked to be cruising to a two set victory over Troicki with a 4-0 lead in the second set tie break.

But a remarkable comeback from the Serb forced a third set in the match.

Troicki was unable to sustain his momentum as Verdasco romped home in the final set 6-1 to secure the match and a place in the semi-final.

He will face fellow spaniard Pablo Andujar for a place in the final.

Saturday's other semi-final will be between Juan Monaco and Robin Haase.
