England top medals table after day two of Commonwealth Games

    There were further gold medal triumphs for England, Australia and host nation Scotland at the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Friday (25 July).

    It was another dominant day for the Aussies in the swimming, Leiston Pickett won the women's 50 metres breaststroke.

    Thomas Fraser-Holmes then won gold in the 200m freestyle and Australia ended the day in winning style as they won gold in the men's 4 x 100 metres freestyle relay.

    England and Australia have both won 32 medals so far, but England remain top, a gold ahead of Australia with Scotland in third.

    England's Joanna Rowsell produced a superb display to add the 3,000-metre individual pursuit title beating Australian Annette Edmondson.

    Triple Olympic champion Sam Webster won gold in the men's sprint for New Zealand while in the men's individual pursuit, Jack Bobridge won his second gold medal in two days.

    Meanwhile the most productive sport of the day for England was judo where they secured three gold medals.
