Excitement was building in Glasgow on Wednesday (23 July) hours ahead of the 20th Commonwealth Games.
Script:
The 20th Commonwealth Games gets underway in Glasgow with Wednesday's opening ceremony.
Queen Elizabeth II will formally open the games in front of a 40,000 crowd at Celtic Park.
In the hours leading up to the start of the games, excitement in Glasgow was beginning to grow:
SOUNDBITE: (English) Vox pop: (on whether he's going to the opening ceremony) "Absolutely, wouldn't miss that. I couldn't believe I got tickets, because the computers crashed, and I was actually up at 4 o'clock in the morning in Orlando, trying to get tickets, and I waited all day and at 9 o'clock at night I finally got tickets. So, pretty excited about that".
SOUNDBITE: (English) Vox pop: (on what sport he's looking forward to) "Well, rugby!"
Question: And which team are you supporting?
"Scotland!"
"Bring it on! Scotland"
SOUNDBITE: (English) Vox pop: "People are really proud, because obviously it's our home city, and the (local) people that are competing as well, because obviously they get to compete in their home town."
A global television audience of more than one billion people is expected to tune in to watch the events unfold.
