Garcia 'proud' of his Championship

Monday, July 21 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Sergio Garcia reflects on the final round of the 143rd (British) Open Championship at Hoylake, England on Sunday (20th July).

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Sergio Garcia, tied for second place at 15-under par: (on his round and how he tried to push Mcllroy)

"I mean, two shots was the closest, I think. But it is difficult when you are in a situation when you know you can't make a mistake. It just puts that little bit of extra pressure. You know, so many good things happened throughout this week and even today I got couple of good breaks. You know, it was close, it was close... at least I'm proud of the way I played. Like I said yesterday. I wanted to at least make him feel a little bit and see how he respond and he obviously responded well, because I got within two and everytime I got closer and he kept making one birdie and not let me get any closer than that so, you know, overall I thought it was a great week and he deserved it."

SOUNDBITE (English) Sergio Garcia, tied for second place at 15-under par: (on whether he still has the belief to win a major)

"I mean, everybody looks at you at second and they want to make it a negative. Not at all. I felt like I said before I felt like I played well, I felt like I did almost everything that I could and you know, there was a better player. It's as simple as that. So... you don't have to look at other things, it's just that simple."
