The Red Bull RoManiacs event has been described as one of the world's hardest enduro races and it lived up to its reputation again in 2014, the 10th anniversary edition.

Briton Graham Jarvis was trying for a fourth successive title and fifth of his career, but was put under extreme pressure by fellow countryman Jonny Walker.

Walker started Friday's penultimate section just 44 seconds behind Jarvis, but by the end of the action had built up a substantial lead coming into Saturday's conclusion.

Walker was first on to the course for the final leg.

His closest rivals - Jarvis and Young - followed at five-minute intervals.

Walker only had to keep ahead of Jarvis, but continued to increase his advantage.

Jarvis was himself being pursued by Paul Bolton, who had left 11 minutes later in the morning.

Bolton eventually passed Jarvis, but Walker proved simply too hard to beat.

After taking two of the four Offroad Days and finishing third in the Prologue, Walker claimed overall victory in a combined time of 20 hours, 53 minutes and 23 seconds.

Jarvis, 13 minutes in arrears at the conclusion, was a comfortable second by more than 40 minutes over South Africa's Wade Young.
