Antlers and Tokyo draw

Sunday, July 20 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Kashima Antlers drew 1-1 away to FC Tokyo in the Japanese J. League.

    Script:

The Kashima Antlers travelled to FC Tokyo in the J League hoping to stay in touch at the top.

But it was the hosts who had the best opportunity of the first half, Hiroki Kawano with some lovely work on the wing. But Edu's finish couldn't match it.

Perhaps he should have some shooting lessons with his teammate, Hirotaka Mita. This superb effort after an hour gaveTokyo a 1-0 lead. Some finish off the bar.

But the Antlers aren't competing at the top without good reason and Gaku Shibasaki also hit the bar 6 minutes later, but crucially without the same result.

And Kashima were denied again with 10 minutes to go, Yuta Toyokawa thought he'd equalised, but the officials ruled it out for handball, much to his frustration.

But Toyokawa got another chance just minutes later and this time he secured a vital point for his team with a well taken volley.

So the Antlers leave Japan's capital with a draw but a suspension as Luis Alberto was sent off late in the match, and they also lose ground on leaders Urawa Reds after they won their match.
